In 1966, a group of Northampton County residents received a charter to open the first and only private school in Northampton County.  The building that now serves as the high school was bought in June, 1966 and served as the first building of education for four years.  This new school was named Northeast Academy, A Christian School, Inc.  Doors opened on September 7, 1966 and thirty five students attended.  These students, from Gaston, Seaboard, Margrettsville, Jackson and Conway were instructed by six faculty members.

Under the guidance of a new headmaster and more faculty members, within four years enrollment had increased creating a great need for more buildings.  By 1970 construction was complete on the buildings which were to serve as elementary and junior high classrooms.

In 1973 an additional building was added which houses the cafeteria and gymnasium
